S/He Is Still Her/e - The Official Genesis P-Orridge Documentary 2024
A unflinching look at the life of this divisive, and internally divided, cult figure. It provokes as much as it amuses and has possibly the most unorthodox romance story in any music doc i have seen at its heart. Hard to imagine everything s/he went through but the film does a great job if conveying genesis’ unique turns of phrase which they use to articulate their varied emotional states and philosophiecala positions . It’s especially compelling in its self-reflex adoption Brion Gysin’s cut up approach of the films editing, images of ‘dreamachine’ recur throughout; perhaps the most appropriate way to capture such a chaotic career trajectory.
