It feels like some studio cut this up a ton. Too many threads that died quickly, or came up out of nowhere with a "lol what".
Either needed to be shorter, or longer.
Buuut still fun.
Watching Apocalypse Now and now this is a crazy jump. I can't believe this is Coppala, but also with how ambitious all the set design and effects were you can still see the thread.
The practical effects were absolutely the best part of this. Loved the shadows and the "landscape" sets.
Everything else was just so fucking goofy. It's a fun time.
This is everything that is good about comic book movies, and sadly would be some shitty Disney plus series instead if made today.
There is so much more Logan can dig into, but does itself a favor by leaving so much to the side. X-24, the farm family, the X-Men dying, the corn syrup concept, and the band of mutant kids. You could dive into any of it, but is better by not doing so.
Patrick Stewart is amazing. The "wolf and cub" trope is made interesting due to Laura's dynamic. The violence is good but not too much.

Why did I watch this at hour 8 of 10 on my return flight home? Who knows.
What I can say is I loved it more than the first time I watched it years ago. Now, did I enjoy it because of the amazing visuals and tone? Sure. Or maybe it was because half the time my eyes were on the person's screen to my left a row ahead who was watching Adam Sandler's The Longest Yard?
