  Honestly, one of the worst films I’ve seen in recent times. Maybe it’s because I grew up in the era after this film was made, when the American West was already de-romanticised, but I found Eastwood’s portrayal of it to be boring. It just doesn’t seem that groundbreaking to me that the frontier of an expanding colonial project was full of bitter, cowardly frauds, rather than heroic pioneers. I guess this film was about deconstructing the figure of the western gunslinger,…

  I kind of think of Jordan Peele’s whole gimmick as “what if blockbusters actually didn’t suck”. And with Nope, he’s managed to fulfil that promise once more.
