  I liked this movie more than I was anticipating. The acting wasn't great, and some of the set design is a little ridiculous, but its a fun and quietly smart western set in space. Ice Cube and Jason Statham both have way too much machismo to be taken seriously as characters, but given the context that Mars is a matriarchy in the film, it can be seen as a deliberate overemphasis of testosterone.

  Not the greatest film ever, or even Carpenter's best, but it's a fun watch
