Wow, this is how you make a crime movie. Innovative ovative characters, which instead of relying on detective tropes build upon them, a vibrant 40s atmosphere and feel, a great plot with it’s fair share of turns and twists. These factors add up to a admirable crime film, that pays homage to the film noirs of past and has that dash of modern character building and plot-crafting.

I went into this movie expecting a film noir, with a hardboiled detective and a crime-oriented plot. One Way Street isn’t that. For the most part. It has some crime plot points however it is definitly not detective fiction. Its about a doctor who escapes some dangerous people and how this has consequences.
