  This movie is an adaptation of a novel that paints a prejudiced picture of the Irish. In the film, Barry and his mother are painted as subjugating this wealthy British family to cruelty because they are poor and Irish. I find the plot of the movie to be such a reprehensible rant on the anti Irish ideals held by the British, that no matter how well filmed, produced, or acted, I can’t rate it any higher.
