i hated this film.
what was meant to be a story about discovery and maturing as a woman was shown through a child’s brain in her mother’s body being taken advantage of sexually. i cannot see any female empowerment in such a tale, especially when cognitively disabled people are commonly sexually abused and taken advantage of, and this is shown on screen to a theatre full of people laughing. i do not mind film with sex in them, but watching…

Coppola perfectly depicts this dark and uncomfortable relationship, at first enticing us with the glamour and excitement of Elvis' life, leading on to almost bore us as Priscilla wastes her childhood waiting around for him. Although the audience spends so much time with Priscilla we barely get to know her. She exists to serve and complement Elvis. While I think this depiction displayed well the one-sidedness of the relationship, and that to Elvis, Priscilla was hardly more than a glamourous accessory, I would have liked to learn more about Priscilla herself.
