actually had a really fun time, despite a very prolonged, messy final act with some inexplicable detours (nightmare scene? huh??). Parasite was brilliant but bong joon ho clearly prefers the high concept, speculative genre - and this was easily my favourite compared to okja or snowpiercer. This film conforms wholeheartedly to the idea that the age of trump has rendered subtlety obsolete when it comes to politics, and it’s this context that allows mark ruffalo and toni colette to let it rip with gloriously cartoonish performances. R patz, steven yeun and naomi ackie also a total pleasure to watch.
