Midnight Cowboy 1969
i like these sweaty, stinky boys. so 60s and also so ahead of its time in both editing and content. Feels really indicative of the turn of the decade into the 70s. really interesting to see something so subversive for its time, feels almost impossible that it got made. i wish i could watch it with the eyes of someone back then and see how it made me feel, because i can’t imagine the reaction. really fun. Would make for a hell of a double feature with Funeral Parade of Roses

Lost Highway 1997
You could trace a line from this film to a dozen subsequent ones, an example of the tremendous influence david had on the industry. Sexy and LOUD– Phenomenal sound design by the legend himself. A sort of film that gets under your skin and crawls around. love love that opening sequence and the jazz bar. More please

Pee-wee's Big Adventure 1985
I rented this on netflix when i was a kid, back when they still did the dvds, and as much as i loved it it scared the pants of me. Glad i faced my fears and revisited. Every frame is so magnificent. RIP Paul Reubens fr 🫶

Vertigo 1958
all day i thought i was going to go see Psycho at the theater, but at drinks before my friend corrected me that it was Vertigo. my other friend, who was not coming, said ah with Tippi Hedren. I said Yes, true! And then during the movie i thought damn which of these women is tippi. turns out she is in a 3rd different hitchcock film, the birds.
