Enjoyed this considerably more on a recent rewatch. The Canto Bite sequence is still problematic, but I adore the characterization of Luke and direction Rian Johnson took with his character. Incredible visual storytelling, and I really identify with the themes of reckoning with fascism, found community, eschewing the past and embracing the future, however scary it may be. It is my belief this film will be very positively re-evaluated in the years to come.

The Boy and the Heron 2023
One of my favorite films of last year, and an animated film that will be discussed and critiqued for decades to come. Yet another sublime work from Miyazaki; with impeccable visual storytelling, screenwriting and pathos. Powerful exploration of generational trauma, grief, identity, legacy and deftly grapples with weighty philosophical concepts. Well deserved Oscar.
