Well, here's Philippe Lesage's latest effort. I was excited because his previous two films Genèse and Les Démons were exciting, bold, confident, and refreshing filmmaking. I love both films and admire the ambition but found them equally frustrating because Lesage clearly has the ingredients to make a masterpiece, but he never quite manages to land the plane for me in either of those films.

Falcon Lake 2022
I love that this whole setting feels so familiar to me. It feels like cottage country in northern Ontario that I go up to every summer with the family and it just feels so warm. Some of the experiences in this feel so close to me.
I also loved how beautiful this whole film looked. The cinematography was so deliberate and patient. The shot composition was just beautiful. The subtle horror elements fit really well into this portrait of adolescence too.
