The first 15 minutes can't help but to associate Vic Sotto to those countless TVJ comedy flicks I've seen and this is a different Vic Sotto.

The social commentary is quite strong plus you have competent thespians that rounded the cast including Piolo Pascual, Christine Reyes, Sue Ramirez, Ruby Ruiz, Sid Lucero and Iza Calzado. Kinda ambitious and it's a mixed of action and drama within a family and the open ended finale suggest a sequel might come up.

Soap opera on a massive scale. Ruru Madrid's well-deserved Best Supporting Actor is almost the same weight for his role as Xavier Gonzaga to Dennis Trillo as Domingo Zamora. Once again Neil Daza's stunning and outstanding cinematography engulf the big screen. Gateway Cineplex gave justice again for Daza's cinematography.

Like most of Zig Dulay flicks this is brimming with heart and soul that will stay with you till the end credits rolled. Best cameo of that cat inside the prison being taken care by the character of Ronnie Lazaro. Slow burn.

Despite the bad projection at Sm Megamall Cinema still on high spirit after watching Dan Villegas' UNINVITED last night.

Vilma Santos Recto is incandescent. On that party sequence alone delivering a terrific performance for just a mere observant smiling and greeting those guests while controlling her rage and emotions before the boiling point explode. She reminds me of Juliette Binoche and Irene Jacob two of the finest and beautiful actresses that came out in French Cinema. I bet if Kieslowski…

What makes Peque Gallaga's SCORPIO NIGHTS more claustrophobic are the sounds of the radio being played in the background. You have a gut feeling that someone was killed and the political undertone was not intentional. You always see something new. A solid masterwork.

It wasn't the story of two specific people. Because they were a metaphor. Because they were units in microcosmic study of a cultural sink phenomenon. I think that's proof that from the very beginning we had higher motives for SCORPIO NIGHTS other than purely gratuitous ones. -Peque Gallaga

    RIP Orestes Ojeda.
