Really more of a 3.8-3.9 ⭐️
10/10 production design and cinematography, distinctive soundtrack. Endless gorgeous shots that you’d want to print out large and admire as artwork.
But I think a bit of an old-fashioned story overall. Not to say the performances weren’t gripping or that you couldn’t feel the thrill of the plot, but yeah.
Reserving the last half star for movies that have me gasping for breath but this is really a 10/10 masterclass.

1. Nicolas Holt was born to be born in the 1700s, needs mutton chops and Victorian era swag, but I get it.
2. Casting was so good, somehow Aaron Taylor Johnson was the least awesome addition
3. Production design and cinematography is on another level, graphic chiaroscuro magic
4. There was this TikToker who did NPC livestreams as a sick Victorian-era orphan and Lily Rose Depp is the crème de la creme of this lewk.
