The story has tremendous potential. Although the movie does not reach that potential, it is still exciting and charming.
It is a great movie. It gives you both drama and comedy to a certain extent, but its brilliance comes from its ability to depict the transformation of lives in Eastern Anatolia during the turmoils of the late 70s and 80s. The fact that the writer/director, Yilmaz Erdogan, is from Eastern Anatolia and probably went through similar periods in his life makes the movie even more relevant. A must watch even for a non-Turkish audience.
It is undoubtedly the closest Tarantino movie to his Pulp Fiction, but this one feels more complete and well thought out. Therefore, it leaves a better taste in the end. You understand what a great actor Di Caprio is after seeing him play an untalented actor perfectly.
It is two hours of an adrenaline rush, chaos, and constant noise. It is not an easy movie to watch, but it delivers the chaos in a particular way that makes you enjoy it.
