Wow this was such a better movie then 'Rise of the Plant of the apes', while I did enjoy the first one and definitely recommend it for the establishment of the characters, this one just felt so much more well rounded. The pacing, the editing, and the overall writing made this movie feel more like a passion project than just another monkey movie.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2011
I have a slight fear of monkeys, so I'm surprised that I enjoyed this movie. Although the acting and story telling for the human characters wasn't great, Caesar's character development really kept me engaged.
I've heard the sequels are better, so I'm excited to see where the series goes, and what the originals are like.

SLIGHT SPOILER FOR ALIEN3
This is a great sequel, although it doesn't live up to the original. While James Cameron does manage to make a good jam packed movie, it lacks the eerily quiet, and slow pacing of the first one.
-1/2 for the child. I know she's essential to the plot, but my god is she annoying, and it doesn't help that they instantly kill her off in 3 - although I don't blame them, I wouldn't want to see a kid on a all male prisoner plant either.
