Over-the-top writing and an overbearing performance means that though the film has good things to say around trauma and suffering, Benji's all-ecompassing nature gets in the way. None of the stuff involving him is bad in concept, but I think more subtlety would have done it favours.

Enter the Void 2009
This reminded me of one more reason why I love the PCC so much. Some movies were made to be watched there, this is one of them. The audience reaction to the infamous scene near the end was priceless. I think I'd be pissed off at the audience if this was my first time watching it. But it was my third.

Everything about this is so razor-focussed on its tragic characters and the difficulty of moving on from the past, helped by the poetic direction. The Kid telling Ann that Jeff tried to go away with Kathie at the end is tragic, but the ability to move on is what she deserves.
