An intense film which I would be reluctant to recommend to just anyone, Martyrs was a truly harrowing experience to watch. I have a lot to say about this film, yet I am left at a loss for words. However, I do want to mention my appreciation of the Catholic influence, particularly the influence of The Passion of Joan of Arc. I think 4½/5 stars is appropriate.
