Charles Manson saying “I’m a poop from a butt that fell into a penitentiary” was clearly the main highlight. Book is so much better and far more interesting than this pull between the prosecutor and Tom for what they consider the “truth”. Not necessarily pointless but the potential was absolutely squandered.

Scorpio Rising 1963
Hyper-masculinity producing aggressive idolization of fascist imagery as well as gay stuff. Being able to simultaneously piss off the American Nazi Party but influencing Yukio Mishima is a testament to how fragile heteronormative society is. Also, one of the greatest soundtracks ever.

Longlegs 2024
It’s already been stated that the “scariness” of the film has been exaggerated but my god this is one of the most unnerving thrillers I have seen in awhile. Nicolas Cage is so extravagantly odd and it works perfectly for the tone of the film. Truly don’t think anyone else could have played Longlegs and feel as rewarding as it did with Cage. It was like watching an extremely socially awkward Charles Manson at work. Also I don’t ever want to hear happy birthday again.
