The Count of Monte Cristo 2024
An excellent adaptation which manages to condense Dumas’ sprawling epic into three hours whilst staying faithful to the story. This is the version I’ve been waiting for. Bravo, Monsieur le comte 👏

Had some of the ingredients of a classic Guy Ritchie film but ultimately fell a bit flat. Good performances from the leading cast help make this an entertaining watch but I probably won't find myself wanting to watch again.

Mission: Impossible II 2000
No film ever summarised the year 2000 better but no amount of slow-mo or explosions can distract from the unsettling and constant objectification of Thandie Newton's character. The only impossible mission here was believing what I was seeing.
