I half expected her to betray him in the end and was delighted that it was decided to just let it lie. Even though the whole killing people thing is problematic. Has anyone called Matthew McConaughey and told him his services are no longer required?
Predictable outcome but some genuinely sweet moments between the leads. Falls flat in the scenes with dad Delaney - you will notice some strange ADR and odd cutaways in certain scenes… very odd… but I suspect someone just didn’t like his performance. Movie tries to be something akin to Love Actually” but falls short. Still, a nice escape if you’re in a romcom mood.

What I assume is a satire about the unfeeling, greedy, and predatory business of elder care and the broken systems that support it, is SO jam packed with irredeemably callous, selfish and delusional people one can’t help but wish them all dead. If this film truly wanted to comment on how broken the system is, more time should have been spent showing the impact these lizards have on the lives of the people they exploit. The lack of chemistry between Liam Neeson and Diane Kruger, along with direction than appears to be more concerned about lighting cigarettes than tone, make this a tough watch. A solid supporting cast and, what appears to be a genuine love for the tropes of the genre, aren’t enough. Do yourself a favour and go watch The Big Sleep or The Long Goodbye instead.
