Very intense, visually arresting, and funny too. The acting is incredible, for reasons that will become more obvious after a watch. BUT! I would suggest you go in blind like we did - Mo wanted to watch this so she could catch up on the Dead Meat podcast but neither of us knew about it before.

Murder on the Orient Express 2017
My first exposure to Hercules Poirot was this film, but I'm a big fan of detectives, from Sherlock Holmes and Lenny Briscoe to Shawn Spencer and Columbo. I love the heart of this movie, and though I'm still not as familiar with Poirot as my wife, who's read over a dozen of the novels, I find the character charming and sad.
I noticed the effects shots outside the train aren't great, but that's more a consequence of time than fault of a director. The film is shot like a play in parts, and use of overhead space also comes into play. Really liked this one.Translated from by

The Autopsy of Jane Doe 2016
One of my favorite horror films. Basically a two man performance, but one that makes you like the characters before just the worst stuff starts happening. I think I end up watching this twice a year.

Folks seem to be giving this movie a second chance, and I'm glad for it. It was one of the first movies I saw after moving to Denver, and as kind of a reboot/greatest hits, it's good! It's also a fair bit meaner than it's old school counterpart. The opening sets the tone, and the characters are fun enough to tolerate before the body count rises
