I’m fluctuating between “not good” and “bad” as a descriptor for this movie. On the one hand, it’s not the worst Christmas movie I’ve ever seen, being largely inoffensive. On the other hand, it’s paint by numbers plot, its bad script and dialogue, and its inability to make one interesting choice make it hard not to dislike. It feels like I’ve seen this movie a hundred times before, with every single line of dialogue wholly unoriginal and derivative of the…

It’s crazy how much my opinion has changed on this movie in comparison to my first review. A lot of the things I liked upon my first watch now bother me this time around, like Grace, the Entity, and this whole idea of Dead Reckoning Part 1 (and eventually 2) being a satisfying conclusion to the franchise. Grace didn’t start to become likable until the 3rd act, when she actually became an active participant in the plot instead of a…

This was such a limp to the finish line. Crystal Skull should’ve left well enough alone, but this one really drives the knife in deeper. This movie provides no reason for why it exists. Indy is old, sad, depressed, and generally miserable the entire time, which doesn’t make for a very entertaining movie-going experience. His god-daughter Helena is also not very fun to watch, as her characterization is all over the place and she doesn’t have good chemistry with Indy…

Not terrible, production wise, but it lacks soul. The bad guys aren’t really bad, the good guys aren’t really good, and there’s only a few funny bits in a movie that’s supposed to be funny wacky booby trap hijinks. Most of the time, the script is just lame and cringe, especially when it states the motivations of characters out loud and the theme of the movie at the very end. All in all, it was only slightly offensive, which is as much praise as I can give a sequel to some of the best holiday movies of all time.
