only yesterday is without a doubt my favorite ghibli movie, and probably one of my favorite movies in general. i don’t know what about it reads at such a deep register. the first time i watched it i was high, so it felt like my eyes were melting out of their sockets and my heart imploding and reconstituting itself on repeat. i’ve been coming back to it every couple of years since then.
