I feel like Northern Irish friends have always been seeking recognition and understanding from the rest of Ireland and the UK. People from the Republic of Ireland often seem to ignore or remain indifferent to The Troubles, while many in the UK are largely unaware of their existence.
This makes it fitting for the series to focus on evoking sympathy for the citizens of Northern Ireland who longed to be acknowledged beyond their borders, even if some resorted to violence…
