The Hunt 2012
One thing that's so good about this film is that there's no villain. The actions of most of the characters are at least somewhat understandable. There's not even really a single event this whole situation comes from. Everything gradually unfolds, as it should in a film about a rumour blowing out of proportion.

The Mystery Man is Fred. He “lives at his house” probably in the other bedroom that was turned into a “studio”. This clearly represents a different part of Fred’s mind, the evil part or, more likely, the true part of his mind. At the end, he gives Fred the knife to kill Mr Eddy, which ends up being the catalyst for the film’s beginning.
