Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga 2024
I underestimated Fury Road and I underestimated Furiosa - seriously entertaining despite Anya Taylor-Joy’s overacting with her dramatic stares. On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed Chris Hemsworth’s overacting. I really am a fan of putting an odd prosthetic or makeup on handsome actors typically in leading roles so that they can lose themselves in the character brilliantly - Colin Farrell as The Penguin being another example. And the short love story was authentic and not shoved in our face. Bravo George Miller. Left me wanting more yet again, which he knows of course, hence the Fury Road scenes in the credits.

The Hateful Eight 2015
That was a lot of n-words…
Always enjoy a nice story about a bunch of strangers trapped together with murderous intent.
And is Marquis black Benoit Blanc?
Way too long tho- makes sense with the character/scene set up but almost dropped to 3.5 stars cuz of that

Eat Drink Man Woman 1994
Movies like this that are about the tender moments in between the humdrum of daily life really get me. In a way, it reminds me what Totoro sort of did - minus the fantastic rabbit and cat friendly giant monsters and childhood summer nostalgia lol.
Chef Chu’s (lol if anyone’s been to Los Altos’ famous Chef Chu’s) comedic moments had me guffawing, and the cooking scenes probably had Netflix jealous.
Duty/filial piety & East/west & father/daughter themes…all so good! Only reason it’s not 5 stars are because of some lulls here and there.
The final scene’s tenderness had me like 😢😭🥲🥲
