Everyone is hyping CODA (2021) at the moment, but the remake will never hit me as hard as the original. When I watched it I was living as an international student in France, not that far from the film locations. C.R.A.Z.Y. 2005
Unfortunately, Jean-Marc Vallée just passed away. This is my favourite film from him. I always waited for something with the same vibe, but it never came. The musical scenes with Space Oddity from Bowie, and Sympathy For The Devil from the Rolling Stones on a church always stayed on my mind. I had one of the best movie going experiences sneaking with friends into a festival screening that was packed. We had to watch it on the floor and we all loved it. Also the bi/queer family conflict was very relatable to me, so pure love.
