    Not usually a big sci-fi guy, but Bong Joon-Ho’s over-the-top space colonization comedy definitely did it for me. The film is ambitious with the many themes it attempts to explore (colonization, the ethics of future tech, the perpetual failing upwards of charismatic opportunists, and more!) but by far its strongest storyline was the relationship between Mickey and Nasha. It is beautiful and intellectually stimulating, but ultimately its scale and hurried epilogue slightly muddy the effectiveness of the film’s many themes and subplots.
