Big-Studio garbage with all of the modern trappings this comes with. Egregiously lit? Check. Wonderful music butchered by pop-music mixing? Check. Seemingly well choreographed musical numbers (I know you can do it Jon Chu) that for some reason are shot away from any of the interesting parts? Check. The life drawn out of the first act’s emotional climax with horrific staging and smothering via barely passable CGI? Check. I cannot emphasize enough how terribly lit this entire movie is.
