  I'm sure the original short story by Stephen King and the original screenplay that had a more serious tone was better, but the change of the screenplay by director Osgood Perkins was very uneven.

  My biggest nit pick with the movie was the relationship between Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway's characters, the build-up to their relationship felt like they had to shorten it down and because of that it didn't look believable at all.
  Maybe the build-up was better written in the book? I'm sure the screenplay had to shorten a few bits from the book it's based on and the relationship part was definitely one of them.

  I actually saw the Nicolas Cage-remake first and I didn't know then that the movie was a remake of The Pang Brothers's original debut film (they both made the remake and this film).
  I know that many people didn't like the Cage-movie, but I really liked it. Cage was awesome and it wasn't a shot for shot-remake like Funny Games and Pyscho, sure it has the same basis plot but it didn't feel like you were watching the same film…
