Good, great in places. Surprisingly current in terms of its political commentary. A little too chaotic and doesn’t quite come together, leaving me wanting a little bit more. Whilst David Corenswet is great the true scene stealer here in Hoult’s Lex Luthor. So it starts slow, and the corridor cgi looks like it’s from Spy Kids, but this feels like quintessential Doctor Who. Weird, wacky, creepy, shonky effects, all elevated by fantastic performances from David Tennant and Catherine Tate and an ending that left my excited for the final special next week.
Left the cinema 10 minutes ago and the sense of existential dread the film gave me isn’t going away any time soon. Absolutely incredible.
I shall now have the Totoro song stuck in my head for a long, long, long time.
What a way to end my time World Cinema - an eerie, often uncomfortable, gorgeously shot film. Didn’t vibe with all of it but I was glued to the screen.
I’m a simple man, and sometimes all I need is to watch Ryan Gosling look cool doing stunts, talk in French to a dog and cry about Emily Blunt whilst listening to Taylor Swift.
Was hoping it would be fun but this was an absolute blast!
Fun, energetic and full of charm. Ncuti steals the show and Millie wins you over as the new companion. But did we really need the goblin song? And I think it’s safe to assume that THE THING we all hoped Russel would ignore is still around. Still super excited for what’s next, bring on May!
Ooh, there’s some conflicting feelings here. Once again a slow start and improves over the runtime until… Well, if you know, you know. I’m really unsure about whether that was a good idea. Not to sound snarky, but I bet we can guess who’s getting a spinoff alongside the rumoured UNIT show in this “Whoniverse”. The acting here is great. Tennant and Tate are glorious as ever, and Harris has some excellent scenes. I just feel like the choices made are…

Only in Cannes would I willingly buy a ticket to a horror movie, but it turned out to be the best experience of the festival so far. The crowd adds the fourth star to this as the vibes were insane and elevated a simple story and weaker moments.
For the most part, it felt like I’d seen all of it before, and done better.
