Roland Barthes had a critical commentary that I wonder if I had different viewpoints with
He criticized the film from a political and societal perspective, saying that it imposed moral and ethical values unnecessarily because it didn't present the underlying societal/political system. I wonder if it's necessary to see the film from such a perspective? Doesn't the film portray the characters as they are in a glimpse of time? Should we assume there's a message in the filmmaking that is identified with the main protagonist, like Roland does? Isn't the main protagonist just one of the characters that plays a role in the story, too?
