Watching this; it finally clicked in my head that Charlie Kaufman is harnessing his own style of surrealism on film that is reminiscent of Lynch, but still Kaufman's own style. The quick transitions between actors and actresses, the quick cuts that disorient you, the philosophical conversations about time, the sequences that feel so incredibly meta that i was laughing out loud, having a blast. It is crazy how he went from writing movies like Being John Malkovich and Eternal Sunshine to directing them. It is inspiring as a screenwriter to have watched him grow.
Synecdoche, New York is next for suuuuuuuuuuuuure.
