It’s not terrible, it just lacks that trademark James L Brooks signature whit. 5/10.

‘Adolescence’ is simply stunning from start to finish. The gorgeous direction from Philip Barantini, with each episode presented in one continuous shot. The show is also populated with fantastic performances, specifically from young Owen Cooper in his debut role, Stephen Graham who continues to show he is one of the most talented actors working today and Erin Doherty. The themes and story evolve in a way that’s tense, thought-provoking and deeply tragic. I adored this show and recommend everyone check it out. 10/10.

    ★★

‘Ricky Stanicky ‘ has charming leads in Cena and Efron, but it’s tired gags, overly serious narrative sentiment and annoying supporting characters really detract from this one. The films set-up for gags almost feels AI generated. If you think of a setting or scenario, chances are, it’s included in this film and it’s as unfunny as you’re probably imagining. You're Cordially Invited

    ★★

Whilst possessing a couple of likeable leads in Ferrell and Witherspoon, ‘You’re Cordially Invited’ lacks laughs and possesses one too many clichés. Writer/director Nicholas Stoller is responsible for some of the best American comedies of the last 20 years; so to see something so half-baked from him is really disappointing. It can be lumped in with so many recent comedies just lacking any sort of personality or charm. I’m sure it has its audience, but a comedy without laughs is one tough watch. 4/10.
