I liked this movie because I misunderstood it. Apparently it's supposed to be a slasher, while I saw it as an anti-slasher, a deconstruction of the audience's thirst for blood and "fun" kills, that shows how gruesome they are when you take away the score and the thrill of the chase. Richard Linklater, who made two of my all time top 6 movies, has now made a film that I absolutely hated.
Up to the meet cute, I was mildly interested. It wasn't particularly funny but I was waiting to see what happens.

I recommend seeing the movie on the basis of the visuals. Although they went a bit overboard with the flashing lights, the whole movie just looks great, and I like the spaceship design. The story itself, unfortunately, was merely so-so. Acting was good on Stoyas part, the protagonist was very off-putting, but that's possibly because he has to play a pretty unlikeable character. As a concept I like it, and it's great what they did with the budget, just the story could have been better.
Oh and if you want to get drunk, have a shot for every countdown in the movie.

There is a potentially fantastic Mads Mikkelsen drama/thriller buried under an unnecessary and clichéd action movie, pretty sad actually...
