My issues began at 0:00:01 when I saw Chloë Grace Moretz in the forest with a machine gun.

The state of affairs rapidly worsened until the point at which my brain could no longer process what I was forcing it to experience, and I slipped into some form of semi-conscious coma for half an hour. Following my re-birth from said coma I was significantly distressed to discover there was still over an hour left of the film.

    It was at…

ok so i've thought about it for 10 mins and come to the conclusion that I'm never really gonna be able to form a coherant string of sentences about this film that are in equal parts descriptive and * witty * . So here's a list of words and phrases that come to my mind instead:

    - another reviewer said this is "full of life", and I feel it really is just that, in the truest sense of the phrase…

Yes yes this was fucking brilliant mannnnnnnnn

Proper documentary filmmaking man, pure insight into a world / a message / a movement in a way that was just so clean, punchy, raw, honest, meaningful. Never needed to do the most cos it just got it right at the core.

Does more in 90 minutes than so many films these days manage to do in fuckin 3 hours

Good entertaining fun, visually and creatively really sick. Also Mark Ruffalo's Donald Trump was truly fucking GENIUS man everything performed directed written just so good man.

    However

    1. Absolutely did not need to be this long

    2. Despite cool entertaining fun, just never felt like it went into much real depth. N it set up so much stuff so perfectly to get stuck into some cool interesting depth, but really just fell sort of neutral. And that's cool, not every…

SO much wasted potential. Like what the actual fuck. The acting was actually painful. The script could’ve been written by a class of 6 year olds. So many things just left so completely unanswered? What was the fucking point of him taking pics and that being such a focus of the narrative? Why do the filmmakers think we actually care about the relationship between these two completely empty characters after only about 15 mins of knowing them and having no meaningful insight into them???

If you took out all of the snowmobile driving sequences and times Jeremy Renner said “come over here, lemme show you”, this film would be exactly 9 seconds long

Edit: (I understand that the overall point and message of the film was an incredibly important one, and that I respect, I just think the execution of it was almost spectacularly poor. And that a film shouldn’t be highly rated purely because it aimed to push an important sociopolitical message. A shit film is a shit film regardless.)
