Mysterious Skin 2004
I really appreciate how Araki clearly depicts the manipulation both characters, but especially Neil, experienced from there abuser, through their own narration, with them not even being aware of it. I think that this movie not having a typical structure or fulfilling ending highlights well how survivors of abuse usually aren't met with any guidance on how to come about there traumatic experiences. I think that this representation of sexual assault on children and examination of different impacts it has upon people throughout different stages in their lives is really well done and thoughtful.
