The team are great, 90% of the movie around them is struggling to tread water. I was not immune to the charm, but every second before they turn up is torturous and like the poochie pushing execs I did ask where they were when it dipped back into the paint by numbers subplots.

In the Heights 2021
You know what, this is definitely greater than the sum of its parts. I wasn't sure if I was going to get in the spirit for a grand movie musical but any reluctance I had was gradually washed away by the warmth of the film. I could sit and write an essay but truthfully I think that it's worth seeing in a packed theatre and Jon M. Chu and the 100s of other creatives have put together a film that hopefully captures the collective consciousness during our first full summer back in theatres/cinemas. Hope this gets the legs it deserves.
