  The Third Man 1949

  ★★★★½ Rewatched 17 Sep 2023

  Saw this at Burg Kino in Vienna. A lovely stalls-and-balcony cinema that plays it every Sunday. Then I walked to Schreyvogelgasse 8, the location of *that* door, and felt the spirit of Harry Lime.

  Now I have two geographical connections to the film: a) visited where it was shot and b) the tiny Scottish town where my gran lived, and where I spent a lot of time as a kid, whose ice cream van inexplicably played (and still plays last time I visited) Anton Karas' theme.

  What a film.
