This film was pure vibes.
De Niro is magnetic every time he is on screen. The meandering plot was a bit hit or miss for me but the last thirty minutes made it completely worth it for me. You can tell Scorsese is still in his infancy artistic wise, you’ve got the usual hijinks, gangsters in New York who are unapologetically Italian, a plot that simmers until its explosive third act etc etc but Scorsese masters that better later on…
