Captain America: Brave New World 2025
This does not live up to the promise of the title at all. Should have been a Disney+ series. The American military propaganda aside… Sam was deprived of being the centre of this story. There was so much to explore there, the burden of representation, filling big shoes, battling with his own beliefs v government interests. You can argue that his “origin story” has already been covered before but where’s the real exploration of the complexities of this character? This…

I really enjoyed that. Silence of the Lambs is the better movie imo but I almost don’t wanna compare them because they’re so different stylistically. There were so many gaps in the story, lots of unanswered questions, actually defies logic and the editing felt very “camp” at points. All that being said, with that performance from Anthony Hopkins, and blood and gore… I was captivated from start to finish.

Past Lives 2023
The movie had all the right ingredients and when it soars it soars but… I couldn’t help but feel like something was missing throughout then a conversation happened that was so beautifully written that it encompassed everything that I was yearning for but it was almost too late? This movie should have shattered me but it just didn’t. I was invested in the emotional journey from the beginning but they somehow lost me. Definitely need to see Greta Lee in more things though, she ate this 👏🏾
