It was appropriately named as a Reboot because it was the same jokes in different packaging. But it was fun. I enjoyed the nostalgia of it and at the same time the more mature life outlook. But could’ve done with a few less self deprecating jokes. Holden and Alyssa storyline was great. Seeing Stan the man was a treat as well!
I’m a Christopher Nolan fan so my rating is probably a bit skewed. Not his best film but still a fun watch and definitely one to go back and rewatch to find the things I missed on first viewing.
The visuals were stunning especially when I read (on the internet so it has to be true) that many of the effects were practical and that this movie had fewer digital effects than an average romantic comedy movie today. Take that My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2!
I asked the kids what they would rate this movie on a scale of 1-5 after watching this movie with them. At first my son gave it a perfect 5 and my daughter gave it a rating of a million. Hence, after explaining the 1-5 scale a little bit better my son gave it a 4 and my daughter gave it a 5. So 4.5 average for the kiddos. Which I took that into account with my 3 star rating. Use that context however you choose.
My rating is probably harsher than it should be (or maybe not harsh enough) but I went into this movie with the following expectations and was let down:
First, wanted something funny and this movie was listed as a comedy when we selected to watch it. A comedy it is not. It does have three or four parts that made me chuckle but that does not equal a comedy in my book.
Second, I enjoyed Lost in Translation and hadn’t…
