Enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The romance is generic turn of the century wet bullshit, but the dynamics between friend characters is fun to watch. Also a show from John Goodman is a win in my book.

This is a fun film, it's goofy, wacky, and the protagonist is a cheeky but lovable detective. There are a few parts in this film that have not aged too well, predominantly to do with misogyny, but these are addressed towards the end. If you disrgard these few instances, this film is a wild ride, full of stupid action sequences, and some well constructed espionage.
