  god bless the perfect mole on grégoire colin’s right cheekbone. 

  this is the most perfect film ever made. the cinematography! the score! beautiful boys swimming and ironing and training for non-existent conflict.

  claire denis is proof that men should only appear on film through the female gaze. through her lens they are strong, playful, jealous, awkward, sweet-natured and aggressive. every shot is glorious. the tension between galoup and sentain develops within a wider context of postcolonial (or neocolonial!) unease- even scenes of calm are alive with anticipation. 

  final scene second only to the dance scene in u.s. go home.
