From today's perspective, the film is adorable in its character but incredibly sad at the same time. The main character, Gelsomina, hopelessly faithful to her employer and partner, cannot seem to get free from his grip. It is a story of someone brought into a world without much choice and equally as unable to leave it--someone with never-ending inspiration who's talent goes unappreciated.
