The fictional Call of Duty game dropped this movie by a half star by the way.

But for real this was a nice, beautifully shot, spy thriller with a charming cast and a well written plot that keeps you engaged the whole way through.

Pacing can jump around a bit but it never feels like you’re losing track of the story, it establishes itself and doesn’t throw in too many elements. Also the soundtrack is really freaking good I’m surprised more people don’t talk about it.

Still one of my favorite war movies. Holy hell the Fort Wagner scene is still immaculate, very few battle scenes can top it. The Charlotte Forten scenes being removed is the movies only crime, hope they get discovered one day.

This is better then One Piece.

Definitely a back to basics sort of origin story but with the way the live action films have been that’s probably the best course of action. Animation was spectacular (ILM are miracles workers) and this really was just a love letter to the franchise.
