Good movie! Obviously the same flaws as any other Bollywood movie with cheesy writing, terrible screenplay, bloated story, etc. but two things mitigate it well: it made me feel good watching it and it did a great social service. 8/10 is recency bias, this movie will probably settle into a solid 6.5 though

There are a lot of cinema purists that will claim this movie is a cash grab full of high flying wires and green screens. They’d be forgiven if that’s all they saw while they watched it and rated it on its technicalities. I am fortunate that I experienced the true feeling of “going to the movies” after ages, I am lucky that I saw it with my friends, and I am grateful this movie was a celebration of how far cinema has come and how far it can go. That’s what Spider Man is to me and I’m very happy that’s what I saw.

Christian Bale's acting was phenomenal. He absolutely owned the role.

I wanted to hate this movie before going in. I mean how could it compare to the great space movies of our time like Interstellar, Apollo 13, or The Martian. The answer is, it doesn’t and it can’t. But to compare a good movie who knows its content and its audience to generation-defining movies is unfair. I highly recommend this movie to a layman who wishes to go in to the theater with an open mind and accept the narrative…
