    The Devil's Doorway

    ★★

The Devil's Doorway, set in Ireland, tells the story of Father Thomas and Father John investigating a supposed miracle in a home for women on the fringes of society. The home is run by nuns, which is scary enough, but it also hides dark secrets. The film follows the found footage style, which has been overused in works of very questionable quality, and this one is not far off, trying to bring up a discussion about faith and the role…

The script isn't bad, but sleep paralysis is quite different. Even though it's fiction, it could have been more faithful to the symptoms. Something I really liked was the demonic possession. Being a supernatural manifestation, they always end up exceeding the limits of the human body, because even if the character is possessed, the body doesn't gain elasticity or regeneration. I think Regan was an owl. The film does well in terms of suspense and mystery, until the middle of the plot, but the mediocre acting and the explanation of the mystery let everything down. Fun, but ordinary.

This movie accidentally came up in a YouTube search. I watched. It was love at first sight. It's so real, the situations, the awkward conversations, the relationship, everything was so real, so tangible. I wished, wished a lot for a clichéd "happily ever after" ending. So I cried, I cried to the sound of "I Wanna Go to Mars". This movie made a big impression on me.

Simplicity makes it more believable and scarier. However, I found the script weak and uninspired. And the chemistry between the actors is not the best. But the film yields good entertainment for those who like the theme.
