    A Ghost Story

I loved the idea of this, but sadly this is a text book indie film, from minimal whispery dialogue and looooong static shots of nothing particularly interesting to a nonsense 4:3 frame indulging the directors need for style over substance, a minor 'twist' and an ending 'left to your imagination'... What a bore! Even Affleck & Mara have nothing to add, the whole thing just feels like a drawn out and self indulgent short film.

Oldman is great as Churchill and the film follows a really interesting period that leads up to the moment he announces to the nation that "we will never surrender" & how he makes that critical decision. My only grumble is that it feels a little 'BBC drama' at times and there's moments when it feels a little theatrical too.

It's as good as a sequel to a 90's cult classic could possibly be... but sadly that doesn't mean it's great! T2 explores the misery of getting old and 'being a tourist of your own memories' as Sick Boy nicely phrases it and at times it works well, but it all gets bogged down by the rather stretched subplot of 'Begbie's revenge' which all gets a bit silly and starts to feel too much like a Guy Ritchie film.

There's only really 2 problems I had with Dunkirk, the first was Harry Styles who is actually alright to be fair, but his presence and the fact that it's his first film, meant I was waiting for him to slip up and it slightly spoiled the atmosphere at times. My second gripe is with the lack of blood, the 12 certificate has meant that the real horror and violence of war has had to be heavily watered down, which means…
