The Handmaiden 2016
I don’t really know how I can sum up how I felt about this movie when at least at some point during the almost 3hr run time I think I felt every human emotion possible.
I’m pretty sure I also spent at least 10min total of said run time with my mouth agape (be it plot twists or… otherwise). Cinematography and costuming to die for, characters I actually cared about. I don’t really know what else to say without launching in to a full on essay.
Shame on me for putting off watching this for so long!

film makers finally letting timothée do a little step ball-change and sing a little ditty like the whimsical theatre kid he is was enough to cure my eternal sadness for about 2hrs.
love the ambition of attempting to tackle capitalism, drug addiction, the corruption of the church AND the police, and class disparity in a kids movie musical.
truly a special package of a film (almost died seeing the “..scratch that, reverse it” bit on a giant screen)
